THRILLS & ADVENTURES
SHARJAH ARCHEOLOGY MUSEUM
This museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich and deep-rooted history of Sharjah. Reports of many excavations and expeditions have shown that humans have been settled in Sharjah for more than 125.000 years. The museum sheds light on the lifestyle of the region’s inhabitants from the Stone age up to the rise of Islam. Visitors get the chance to learn about the civilizations that developed in the region from the Stone Age up until today, through the artifacts, coins, jewellery, pottery and ancient weapons showcased in the museum. The archaeological findings reveal the connections and relations between Sharjah inhabitants and their neighbours in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as with other civilizations. They also show the expansion of commercial relationships from the Indus Valley in the East to the Mediterranean islands in the West.
SHARJAH MUSEUM OF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION
The museum is an important cultural and touristic landmark. It is unique for its location along the Al-Majarrah Waterfront in the Heart of Sharjah and for being the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates. The museum displays thousands of unique artifacts that highlight the great Islamic Civilization from the first century AH (7 AD) to the fourteenth century AH (20 AD). Visitors to the museum can explore the discoveries and inventions of Muslim scholars throughout the ancient Islamic history. The museum’s collection of Islamic arts and culture exceed more than five thousand distinct pieces collected from various parts of the Islamic world and displayed according to their time periods in six distinct galleries. Visitors can enjoy learning about the magnificent Islamic history, art, culture, sciences, and Islamic discoveries.

SHARJAH AL HISN FORT
This wonderful edifice, built in 1823, was Sharjah’s government headquarters and the residence of the ruling Al Qasimi family. The Fort is a square shaped construction, featuring a spacious yard in the middle. It consists of two main floors and three towers built for defensive purposes. When first built in 1823, it was considered the biggest and most important construction in Sharjah. The Fort was built out of coral stones which were collected from the deep sea waters of the Arabian Gulf; the walls were covered with a light brown plaster, and the doors were made of teak wood, while the ceilings were constructed using mangrove trunks and “Al Duun” – branches of palm trees stripped off their leaves and fibres. Here you can learn about the first jurisdiction system adopted in Sharjah in Al Muhalwasa jail, and learn how “dibs” (date syrup) was made in the past. Here, you can also discover the weapons and defence strategies used by the Sheikhs and their guards, as well as the lifestyle of the ruling family.
SHARJAH HERITAGE MUSEUM
The museum offers a great chance to engage in the rich heritage of Sharjah and the Emirati culture, with a focus on Sharjah residents’ lifestyle over the past decades. Here, you can learn and get inspired by the deep-rooted Emirati customs and traditions. Bait Al Naboodah originally belonged to the late Obaid bin Eissa Bin Ali Al Shamsi, also known as Al Naboodah. He was a prominent pearl merchant who held commercial ties in India, Africa and France.
